Heirlooms

Last night our dear friend and neighbor had us
over for dinner.

Was it our lucky night!

She has a crop share at Sport Hill Farm, a local,
sustainable, organic grower in Easton, CT.

The bounty and the beauty that she had
sitting in her kitchen was amazing!

She treated us to a starter of heirloom tomatoes in every shade of the rainbow, mixed with olive oil and fresh basil...really I thought I had died and gone to heaven!

The flavors we unlike any other I have tasted, sweet, ripe, juicy.  The rainbow of color was so bright that my husband sat down next to me and didn't bother to have any.....
he thought it was fruit salad  :)

Here is a shot of the delicacy that we devoured with
pieces of fresh bread.

And, along with the tomatoes, she had fresh cheese too.  Sport Hill Farm sells cheeses from a farm in Litchfield County and of course, they were amazing too!

Hope you are enjoying the last bits of summer!
